3. Pat & Terrell - September 26, 2008

You have inspired me to get back on track with WW, so today I met a lady here in the park that goes to a meeting on Tues. mornings, and I have committed to go with her. If you can do it I can do it. Your Dad eats all sorts of garbage, and never gains a pound. Lucky him. I look forward to seeing your progress – hopefully, I can keep up with you (although men always lose faster than women). My excuse, and I’m sticking to it. Love, Pat

4. Gary & Mel - September 27, 2008

We’re proud of you and want to join in on getting healthy and fit. Like we’ve talked about before, it’s not all about the weight loss, but also about changing lifestyle choices. We talk about walking and eating better, but rarely make ourselves do either. We’re setting a goal of eliminating hydrogenated fat from our diet by Dec. 7 and taking a non-work related walk three times a week. Doesn’t sound like much, but we eat a LOT of processed foods that are loaded with that crap. Can you say Ranch dressing? Bisquick? Packaged muffin mixes?

Thanks for giving us a reason to quit talking and take action. We’re with you!

5. Roseanna - September 28, 2008

You go Boy! I am so proud of your venture and you look fab already! Makes me feel bad that I didn’t walk more this summer. See what an effect you have on folks. The only healthy I did was get back on cholesterol meds and get those all important yearly tests out of the way at the VA. :)

6. Dad and Pat - October 2, 2008

Chris, it so good to see how well you are doing. I started walking around our new park every day at least 3 times – it is a mile every time around. I’ve gotten your Dad to go with me for 1 mile of it – when it gets cooler, maybe he will do more miles. We definitely need to stay healthy at our age. I had a big crunchy chicken salad from I-Hop for lunch today, so that left me with eating a bowl of fresh carrots for dinner, and lots of water to fill me up. Keep up the good work, you are encouraging us on to a healthier lifestyle.

7. Mom - October 5, 2008

Well, I poured my heart out on an earlier email, but forgot to put in my name, so it rejected me!!! I’ll try again. What a great start for you!! I know you are already feeling better. I was considering that there are so many things in life that are out of our control, and it just makes sense to master those things we do have control over…and I know that is easier said than done. But you always do whatever you set out to do, and do it well!! Lots of people are your cheerleaders, and now, just as you have always cheered for others, it’s your turn.
Onward!!!

8. Judy & Willy - October 10, 2008

Way to go, Chris. I know you will succeed on your goal.I am very proud of you. Thanks for the pics of Beacon. I know she is being taken care of. I miss you both. (Have you started talking New Jesey yet???) You place is beauticul, can’t wait to see the snow. Have you arranged for the Christmas Decorations this year? I am going to try to get Willy working on them the middle of Nov. and maybe he’ll have them up by Christmas. Stay Safe and have Great weekend. LU Judy

I love the chart and graphics. Where is Maxine when you need her. :) You are doing fabulous dude and I bet you guys have developed quite the yummy cuisine to go along with your program. I’ve got many stairs here in SD so it is the perfect free stairmaster. Good thing my office is upstairs as it forces me to go up there quite a bit. wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee You go boy!

10. Dad and Pat - October 22, 2008

Hey Chris, 20 pounds – that is great – also kados to your Mom. I have just reached the 5# lost, and so I know just how focused one has to be on a healthy diet. I have been walking at least 3 miles a day since I started 3 weeks ago so have been feeling pretty good about myself, even though my loss is slow – but I intend it to be steady. Again, thanks for sharing – it keeps me going. Love, Pat

11. EricH - October 22, 2008

20lbs! That is a MAJOR accomplishment, and though I know it has to be hard you need to know that 20lbs in one month is AMAZING, 10lbs a month is the ‘norm’. Your effort is really paying off! That is awesome man, keep it up you know it will be so worth it!

12. Chris - October 22, 2008

Well it hasn’t been a walk in the park, that’s for sure. But it’s all good. Thanks much for all of th support.

13. Gary & Mel - October 23, 2008

Pat yourself on the back! Not just for the twenty pounds, but for a month of making the daily choice to live healthier. It’s hard to do that every day, but each day that you do it you move closer to lifelong habits.

14. Jeremy - October 27, 2008

A little more than one month left and you’re making huge strides! You can do it – you’re the man!

15. Roseanna - October 27, 2008

Wow, you go boy. You are doing so good. Can’t wait to eat the tofu turkey at Thanksgiving.

16. The other Mel - November 1, 2008

I haven’t taken time to follow up with you as I should – so let me first say what an inspiration you are for us all! Stay positive and remember – steady wins the race. I am so excited for you and the new lifestyle you have ahead. Je suis fier de vous mon ami, je t’aime.

17. Chris - November 1, 2008

C’est doux. Il est toujours bon d’avoir de vos nouvelles.

18. Rebecca - November 8, 2008

I’m on an Atkins at the MD’s approval. Some medications I took caused an 80 pound weight increase. It’s just horrible. That, coupled with taking time to walk, and hit Anytime Fitness down the street, is working well. 12 pounds lost in one month!

Get on it my friend, you’ve got lots of years ahead of you.

19. Gary & Mel - November 8, 2008

I am sorry that you caved to temptation, but it’s great that you can FEEL the difference in how GOOD eating makes you feel and how BAD eating makes you feel. It isn’t just about the weight, it’s about your health. We love you and want you here for a LONG time, so hang in there. We are all about do-overs!

Here’s the pancake recipe I promised. 1/2 cup Heart Healthy Bisquick, 1/2 cup Aunt Jemima whole wheat pancake mix, 1 egg. I don’t measure the milk, add enough so that it’s slightly thinner than pancake batter. Sprinkle the top of the batter with a light dusting of corn meal, then stir than and a pinch of walnuts in to the mix. Let stand for at least 5 minutes. If it gets too thick you can thin a bit with water. Makes 6 small pancakes or 4 medium ones.

Top with lite syrup or “just fruit” jam.

20. Natalie - November 12, 2008

Dear Chris,

You don’t know me, but I have been following your weight loss and I am so glad that you are doing well. It is a brave thing to be so public about your struggle, but it is wonderful to see your successes. I lost 58 pounds in 2006 after deciding that I had enough of weight issues controlling my life. I understand exactly what you are going through and wish you well.

21. Rebecca - November 13, 2008

I’m proud for you, Chris! This is awesome. I’m sure you have recipes but if you need some more, let me know.

22. (the other Mel) Melody Kruse - November 14, 2008

Continuez le bon travail. Vous êtes un très bon exemple nous tous. Bon appétit, bonne vie, beaucoup d’amour.

23. Kim H - December 8, 2008

Wow you look great! We are so proud of you, I am glad you are taking care of your self.

24. Gary & Mel at Arrowhead Resort - January 6, 2009

You know you can do another 30. Can’t wait to see the new you!

25. prairiewoman - January 7, 2009

Hey Chris, your girlfriend Wynonna is doing commercials for Alli. You better give her a holler and show her how it is really done.

26. Mel - January 12, 2009

Yup. I’m thinking Wy could stand to lose 35 with you.

27. gmcrow - April 3, 2009

Glad you are back on track. Sometimes life’s other challenges cause us to neglect ourselves. Your challenges have been enormous, but we all want you to take care of yourself.

28. Melody - April 3, 2009

Sorry if I sounded mean – I know you have had so much to deal with… I just miss the inspiration! Jenny began South Beach per her doctor (due to our history of heart issues in the family) and is doing well (12 lbs in 3 weeks). So she and you are my ‘go to’ team when I find myself frustrated by my own efforts.

I am proud of you both!

29. (the other Mel) Melody Kruse - April 28, 2009

How’s it coming along CM? You’re looking good!
