How Are You Blessed?

Too often we sit around thinking and croaking like a old toad about the things that are not exactly perfect in our lives. Sometimes its financial. Other times its professional. In occassion its a relationship problem. Whatever the problem, dwelling on it is an easy trap to fall into. Those problems are no less real, but how significant are they – really – on the scheme of the world that surrounds us every day?

Most of you know that this has been a big year of change for me. It has also been a time in my life where I have reazlied now more than ever that there really are not any “do-overs”. Our tickets are only punched on a one way trip, so the very best we can do is a “do better”.

So, instead of defeating and depressing self-pity, how about ask yourself “How am I blessed?”

I will go first…..

I am Blessed for the air I breathe.
I am Blessed for this wonderful day.
I am Blessed for the Love that I receive from others.
I am Blessed for the health that I have.
I am Blessed from fear and evil and for protection from the evil and wicked

We are blessed that we have each other, a daughter that faces life’s challenges as a young adult with little fear, a business that continues to thrive and support us, and friends like Chris who prop us up when we get tired.

Seriously, I am blessed.

Why you ask? It’s simple, really.

I am alive and well. I love life. I love the simple and matter of fact things in life. I love the things that appear so easy for you and me….things like being able to go anywhere I want and just enjoy new people.

Or being able to wake up in the comfort of my own home.

Or having a fun meal with friends.

I have a great job. I have a great family whom love me dearly. Forget all of the great toys I have (although they are great to have.) Across this big world there are people that cant enjoy these fun, yet simple luxuries. You know what I am talking about. We see it all over the news daily, but chose to not recognize that the “simple things” are a true and honest struggle for much of this great big world.

I am blessed. I have shelter, food, clothing, health, and my friends & family.

I am blessed. My friend Chris never forgets me. I am blessed by my other friends in Texas, who always check on me to see how I am doing.

I am blessed……..just to be. Sometimes it is enough just to say one is greatful just to be able to enjoy another day.

I am blessed that my children, no matter how chaotic their lives are, still take time to call their mom every day to say “love you”. Ditto kiddos.

I am blessed that, even inspite of the recent pain my family has endured, blessings still exist when we look for them. One of those blessings is being able to see my 100-yr-old Great Aunt Bonnie Kate when we go to East Texas next weekend.
